We are a lapidary workshop since 1978, specialized in Australian opals. We have a mineralogical and aesthetical vocation and we present minerals, decoration objects, opals, faceted stones and jewellery.
We created Minerals France Australia on 9 June 1979. Our passion started in Australia and when we arrived in France at the end of year 78 we decided to make it our profession. They were first of all a cramped workshop and a tiny shop, but we were already receiving many visitors who came to admire our minerals, fine and precious stones from all over the world. Throughout these years, we have participated in numerous mineralogical exhibitions, among others those of Paris or that of Munich.
In 1982, in front of the passionate interest of the visitors and the mineralogical clubs, we organized guided tours of the workshops and the different phases of the size of a stone. The guided tour ( by appointment ) allows us to understand how these raw and shapeless materials make the shimmering facets that give everything Its brilliance to the stone.
In 1989, a beautiful stone building came to replace the makeshift workshops. The building now consists of a large exhibition hall where minerals and precious stones shine, including a fabulous collection of opals. A reception hall for the comfort of visitors, offices and the main workshop complete this wing of the building. In the other we built a laboratory of identification of the stones and a faceting workshop..
Following the boom in new technologies and more precisely e-business, in 2000 we decided to launch La Taillerie de Nîmes in the 21st century. This was our e-commerce website witch evolved between time. Our website is both commercial and documentary. It allows amateurs to buy with the assurance of our reputation.
Immersed in the world of mineralogy and gemmology since the creation of the business in 1979, Cendrine Brown took over to continue her parents artwork with passion.
We create jewelry and decorations based on our creativity, the ideas and dreams we wish to bring to life and substance. And sometimes, it's the stone itself, through its design, shape, colors, or transparency, that inspires the image we will give form to. All lapidary creations start with a rough stone. It can be cut directly if its size is suitable; otherwise, it must be sawn and then cut, either with a grinder or a faceting machine, depending on the work to be done. Polishing gives the stone a shiny finish and luster.
Our shop presents two worlds both close and distant: - the mineralogical world with all sorts of cristals of various shapes, rare minerals, decorative slices that highlight the wide variety of colors of minerals ... - and the world of gems and fine stones carved and / or assembled in jewels: you will find our fabulous collection of opals, faceted sparkling stones to be mounted by the jeweler or for collection, cabochons of all colors, jewelry or pearl necklaces ...
